After courageously battling cancer, Bill “Champ”, age 72, of Scott Township, left this earth on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Bill was a distinguished managing editor at DDI for over 35 years, a champion amateur boxer, and he was passionate about playing in his annual softball league. He was a dedicated family man; a proud father and grandfather “poppy” who was always there to help at a moment’s notice.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, for over 30 years; his loving daughter, Simone (Jeff) Hilty, and his dear grandchildren, Sydney and Isa Hilty. He is also survived by his cherished brother Ric, his brother-in-law Bill (Nadine) Shollito, many dear friends and his fellow ABB fans. Bill will probably be most missed by his best furry-friend, Otis. Bill always stood firmly in his beliefs and rooted for the underdog. He will always be our CHAMP and will live on in our HEARTS. We love you!
Family and friends will be received at the Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Blvd., 412-561-0380, on Wednesday, August 17, for a Service of Remembrance from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Bill wanted donations made to Humane Animal Rescue, 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233, where he actively volunteered.
