Victor E. Solomon passed away peacefully in his sleep and in the arms of his family on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at his home in Mt. Lebanon. Beloved husband of the late Carol (Davison) Solomon; loving father of Victor Solomon (Nicola) and Damon Solomon; beloved grandfather to Catelyn Cocuzzi (Michael Pfleger), Bailey Cocuzzi (Cordell Jackson), Jordan Sinclair (Adam), Jocelyn Solomon (Cole Myers), and Trey Solomon (Jayden Valente); great-grandfather to Heath Sinclair and Cora Myers; uncle to the late Robert G. Solomon, Glenn P. Solomon, Lisa Solomon, Erin Solomon, Romie Zoeller, Heather Schmidt, and William Davison Jr.; dear friend of Pat Paulette. He is survived by his brother, Daniel Solomon (Lynn), and his sister, Cynthia Block. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Solomon Jr.
Victor was born on May 23, 1941, to Alice and Robert Solomon on Pioneer Ave. in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Victor was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served at the 171st refueling wing in Pittsburgh. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener, with the most beautiful backyard in the neighborhood. Seeking adventure, Victor obtained his Private Pilot’s Certificate, but after a difficult landing, he quickly realized flying wasn’t for him and stuck with the activities that grounded him.
A successful hairdresser, Victor owned and operated Vogue Beauty Salon located on Brookline Boulevard for 45 years. In his later years, he worked at Jo’s Salon also located on Brookline Boulevard. Victor was loved by his customers and remained a respected businessman in “The Boulevard” community. Victor was a modest and humble man who selflessly cared for his late wife in her final years of life, always greeting her with the famous line, “How’s my girl?”. He will be remembered as a doting father and pap-pap to his grandchildren, his love of his dogs Casey and Molly, and his feline companion Steve. He loved Pittsburgh sports, Trax Farms apple cider, and glazed donuts, which appropriately earned him the nickname “Sweettooth”. Above all else, he’ll be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and legendary selfless compassion.
Visitation is private at the request of the family. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
