THOMAS J. LAGNESE, of Brookline, on Monday, November 17, 2025. Beloved husband of Kathryn; father of Thomas J. Lagnese, Jr. (Elizabeth), Robert J. Lagnese (Jeri), Edward J. Lagnese (LuAnn) and James A. Lagnese (Theresa). Also survived by 10 grandchildren.
Tom and his wife Kay built a life serving God. Family was the core of their lives, and Christianity was the center of the family. Friends, community, and many strangers in need benefitted from their loving generosity. Volunteer work became their passion. They started small by supporting Resurrection church while their children were young, and progressed to several other ministries. Church Fish fries (mom the master chef) fun flairs, Eucharistic ministry, Meals on Wheels, St Mark’s senior bus, Holy Name Society, Saint Vincent DePaul, and the local food bank all received attention from Tom and Kay. Additionally, they financially supported many other charities spending hours writing checks to those in need.
Tom modelled a strong work ethic. He worked as a printer for 40 years. Always willing to share his skills as a proofreader with the family, papers would be returned to the writer with more red than black ink. On his retirement his gardens and home became his focus. He meticulously hand weeded his yard, not allowing a single dandelion to show its head.
Tom was a vibrant member of the Resurrection church and busied himself with charitable work. The Society of Saint Vincent DePaul was dear to him and he was its director for over 20 years. He enjoyed reaching out to families in need, often using his own money to purchase necessities.
Tom will be dearly missed.
Family and friends will be received at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Boulevard, 412-561-0380, on Friday only, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 a.m., in the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish).
