Theresa (Barry) Smith

THERESA (BARRY) SMITH, 98, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed peacefully on October 17, 2025, held close by her children and grandchildren.  Born February 1, 1927, to Mabel Baker Barry and Joseph Barry, she was the beloved wife of the late William A. Smith, Sr.; loving mother of Terry Eggerton (late Denny), the late Louis Stringe (Linda), the late Jerry Stringe (Tracey), Frances Rohrich (Thomas) and William Smith, Jr.; cherished grandmother of Dennis Eggerton, Daniel Eggerton, Zachary Stringe, Colin Stringe, Sam Stringe and Dana Stringe; and adored great-grandmother of ten.  Sister of Kate Polcawich and the late Mary Crough, Gerald Barry, Shirley Ann Sweeney, Jim Barry, Lois Miller and Jean Barry.

A proud World War II veteran, she carried her sense of duty and compassion into every part of her life and remained active with the Veterans Breakfast Club, cherishing the camaraderie and stories shared there.  She was a gifted gardener whose yard bloomed with the same warmth she shared around her kitchen table, where there was always room for one more.  Throughout her life, she was a caregiver to family and friends - welcoming them in and living her generosity every day.  A woman of quiet faith, she found joy in serving others through her work at St. Michael the Archangel (St. Bernard Church) and Epiphany Catholic Church.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her compassionate and devoted caregivers at Whitetail Springs for their exceptional care and kindness, and to Commonwealth Hospice, whose comfort and guidance helped her peacefully in her transition.  Her legacy of love, laughter and grace will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
