Margaret Alexandria "Sandy" Brody
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sandy Brody, born in Monongahela, PA, who passed away at the age of 88, leaving to mourn, her neighbors, friends and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy's parents, Alexander and Mary Kundla Brody preceded her in death, as did her eight siblings: John, Joseph, Albert, George, Frank, Anne Crooks, Mary Lou Larkin and Elizabeth Hollingsworth.
Sandy was a graduate of Monongahela High School, and a 35-year employee of Bell-Atlantic/Verizon. She worked in Charleroi and in downtown Pittsburgh. She was a long-time resident of Brookline, with wonderful neighbors like Bill, Maggie and Delores, who reached out and cared for each other like family. Sandy was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and an excellent bowler with the Sunset Hills Women's Bowling League. She enjoyed trips with The Pioneer Club to Europe, Hawaii and Disney World. She will be remembered for her love of little children, Liam, Duncan and Violet, and also for her kind heart for cats. She loved to bake banana bread, Jewish Apple Cakes, and was an expert at making a Christmas 3-layered Jello salad. She never went any place empty-handed and she never outstayed her welcome.
Sandy Brody never married but she had a large "family" of nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her as best they could: Kathy, Kalyn, Peggy, Amanda, Brad; Michael and Maureen, Bill and Cheryl, Marilyn and Jack, Carol and Mary Louise and Tony, Linda and Barry, and Richard and Jimmy; Cheryl and Evan, Doug and Jamie, and from Hagerstown, MD...her nephew, George Brody. Some of her devoted friends were Elaine Coleman, Pat Sperl, Marlene Magrini, Linda Grant, Georgetta Hela and Patricia Dittmer.
We want to thank Overlook Green in Whitehall for their kindness and caring, and Bethany Hospice out of Greentree for their excellent staff, who so lovingly and professionally cared for Sandy until she took her last breath and entered into her Eternal Rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Chaplain Timothy Rech from Bethany Hospice, whom Sandy came to love and appreciate, will be officiating at her service, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Blvd., in Brookline, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., where a Blessing Service will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon.
