Of Brookline, on Friday, March 21, 2025, age 92, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Corrado and Ada Gargani; husband of the late Mary Ann (Wingerson). Beloved father of Anne Marie Krieger (Ken), John (Melissa), Roland (Christine) and James (Lorianne DiSabato) Gargani. Grandfather of Christopher, Matthew, Sarah, Alex, Austin, Louis and Conrad. Great-grandfather of Ambrose, Blaise, Clement and Dismas.
Roland was a graduate of St. Justin Grade and High School in Mt. Washington. He received his Bachelor's Degree and Masters in Education from Duquesne University. He served in the U. S. Army as a second lieutenant from 1954 to 1956, and the U. S. Reserves from 1956-1962. He taught social science at Taylor Allderdice High School (Pittsburgh public schools) for 35 years. He was a faithful parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Brookline since 1962. Roland was a charitable and humble man who enjoyed spending time with his family. One of his favorite past-times was dining out at local restaurants and seeing his favorite waiters and waitresses. He was also a huge sports fan, and was especially devoted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, whom he always bet against but never gave up on. Family and friends will be received at the Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Boulevard, 412-531-7700, on Tuesday only, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish).
