ROBERT V. DONAHOE
Age 83, of Hunter, NY area, born in Pittsburgh to Patrick and Rose (Olex) Donahoe, died April 29, 2022, in New York, after a brief illness. Survived by sister Dolores Tommarello (Charles Sr. deceased) and nephews Joseph and Charles Jr. (Michele) Predeceased by sister Mary Margaret Donahoe, brothers John, James (Dee) Charles (Marlene) and Richard Donahoe, and niece Amy Tommarello. Survived by sister-in-law Joan Donahoe, many nieces and nephews, and his good friend Steve Klein.
A graduate of St. Canice High School in 1957, he joined the Navy, served as a Radioman on the USS Albany Cruiser and USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier. Honorably discharged in 1962, he went on to graduate from the University of Florida at Gainesville on the GI bill. Bob moved to New York in 1970. He was an Actor, starting at Little Lake Theater here and later in the Forestburgh Playhouse in NY and in over 170 plays and films over his lifetime, including televised soap operas. An accomplished Classical Guitarist, he enjoyed playing Latin American and Spanish guitar pieces the most, from his youth until he passed. He taught and played throughout the Catskills at coffee houses and recitals. Bob loved virtuoso guitarist Andres Segovia, baseball, Charlie Chan movies and world history.
He will be missed by many friends and in his community in New York, including those at Vail/Hunter Mountain Ski Lodge where he worked until retiring in 2010. Pursue your dreams - Bob did and he enriched the lives of so many throughout the years with his acting and musical talent.
