Richard Jones Obituary

RICHARD ALLEN JONES, age 70, of Palm Bay, FL, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA (Brookline) passed away September 12, 2020, peacefully in his sleep at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, FL, at 1:37 a.m., from complications of a heart disease.  He was born on November 5, 1949, in Nestorville, WV, to William Ray and Flora Mae (Summerfield) Jones, Jr., who have preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 41 years, Linda L. (Kramer) Jones.

“Rich” was an avid sports fan, he LOVED his Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.  He loved to watch golf and old western movies.  After retiring from Verizon, where he worked for 48 years, he spent some time traveling.  His favorite two trips were his trips to Jamaica and when he took a cross-country trip with his best buddy, Cyndi.  But most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, where he would tell amazing stories, make jokes, and just smile with pride as he looked at the family he created.  He always said, “the best time was with family.”

He was a member of the Dallas Lodge #231, where he was a Past Master twice; he was also a long-standing treasurer.  Rich was a proud 32 degree Scottish Rite member of The Valley of Pittsburgh; also a member of the Syria Shrine.  He was also a member of the North Hills chapter Order of the Eastern Star #526, where he was a Past Patron twice.

He will be sorely missed by his daughters and son-in-law, Bobbie Lynn (Jones) and Patrick Eichensehr, Shari Palmer, both of Palm Bay, FL, and Patricia Quarry (DeeDee Dickson), of Pittsburgh, PA.  Rich is also survived by his “lady” of four years, Linda Hayes, of Palm Bay, FL; his loving sister, Ellen J. (Jones) McCaskey, of Palm Bay, FL; his grandchildren, Kristin (Shane) McCaskey, Tristina BM 2 (SW) USN RET. (Petty Officer 1st Class BM1 (SW/AW) Richard O.) Kelly, USNAD, both of Palm Bay, FL, Crystalee (Tony) Schane, of Elizabeth, PA, Tiffany Quarry, of Soma, Japan, and Jacob (Melena) Quarry, of Pittsburgh, PA; and his great-grandchildren, Landon J., Elizabeth L. and Makeylah R. McCaskey, Jerica A. Wright, or Oregon, Ariona E. Rosati, Lillian M. and James A. Kelly, Ethan C., Jacey D., Mason A. Childers, Austin A., Aiden E., Acelen T. and Nova L. Schane.

Rich was like a father to nephew, Jody (Leslie) Self, of Phoenix, AZ, an amazing uncle to Darryll J. (Viktoria) Giannakos, of Rockledge, FL, Jessica (Richard) Holsinger, of Owings Mills, MD, Julia A. McCaskey, of West Mayfield, PA, William J. McCaskey, of New Brighton, PA, Amy L. Helms, Cristol L. Abbott, William R. (Gina) Helms, of Pittsburgh, PA, Samantha Jones, of Keenen, NH and Odis R. Jones, Jr., of Butler, PA.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Odis Ray Jones, Sr., his grandson, Mark Albert Michelotti, Jr. II, his dearly beloved sister-in-law and travel buddy, Cynthia A. (Kramer) Giannakos, and his nephew/godson, Gary W. Self, Jr.

Rich was a great, funny, caring, generous, compassionate and loving family man.  People loved that he was always a gentleman.  He will be greatly missed by his large extended family and many friends that he loved dearly.
