Peter ("Pete") John Tambellini passed away peacefully after a long illness surrounded by his family on November 2, 2024. He was a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Doris Jean (Meta), with whom he was inseparable during his retirement years. He is also survived by his children: Daniel Tambellini, Mark (Karen) Tambellini, and Paul (Sandy) Tambellini; also, by five grandchildren for whom he was their beloved Nonno: Jonathan, Anthony, Briana, Ava and A.J. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Mansueto and Edith Tambellini, and by his three sisters, Adele, Margaret and Carla.
Born in Lucca, Italy, Pete and his family arrived in Pittsburgh in his early teens. He graduated from high school in three years and managed to visit Lucca during his time as a U. S. Army peacetime soldier in Europe. After that, he embarked on a career in the field of civil engineering. Pete enjoyed the company of his family, gardening and cooking, countless trips to Aruba with Doris, golfing and watching all of Pittsburgh's sports teams.
