Nancy Rohrich Obituary

NANCY NORDIN ROHRICH

Of Presto, PA, died peacefully at her home on February 6, 2023.  She was 95.  Nancy was born August 21, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to the late Henry and Mabel (Ayres) Nordin.  The family moved to Pittsburgh when Nancy was 14.

Affectionately known as "Nicki," Nancy was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon Senior High School and a member of the Triple Trio singing ensemble.  Following graduation, she worked in Mt. Lebanon Township's administrative offices until she married.

In 1955, she wed James O. Rohrich, also of Mt. Lebanon.  They were married 33 years, until Jim's death in 1988.  She was a full-time wife and mother, giving her marriage and her children a strong foundation.  In the 1980s, she started taking part in the family automotive businesses, greeting customers at Rohrich Toyota and Rohrich Cadillac.  Following Jim's death, she worked full-time at Rohrich Cadillac and also managed the employee birthday recognition program for both companies until the mid-1990s.

Nancy was married a second time, in 1995, to William Perkins of Fox Chapel.  They were married until his death in 2000.

Nancy was an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, in Mt. Lebanon.  She taught Sunday School, was a Youth Club volunteer when her children were in the program, sang in the Chancel Choir, and was a member of Sarah Circle.

She loved the water - swimming and boating at Indian Lake, PA, or Myrtle Beach, SC - and walking the beach hunting for fossilized sharks' teeth at Myrtle Beach.  She also loved dancing, golf and tennis.  She spent many, many weekends cheering on her daughter at local horse shows and watching her sons compete at local and national golf tournaments.  She played in many women's golf tournaments at St. Clair Country Club.  Later, as a resident of the Nevillewood golf community, she enjoyed playing that course and watching others play through from her back patio.  She inherited her mother's artistic talent and created decorative artwork as a hobby.  For 40+ years, Nancy was part of a Leo birthday party group that celebrated the group's five birthdays by exchanging lion-themed gifts at an annual gathering.

She is survived by her children, Jane (Rohrich) Wood and her husband, Dean, of Goldvein, Virginia, Thomas Rohrich and his wife, Frances, of Mt. Lebanon, and David Rohrich of Upper St. Clair; six grandchildren, Devin, Kyle and Lexi Rohrich, and Michelle (Wood) Morgan (Steve), Deanna (Wood) Slaterbeck (Andrew), and Dean Wood (Juliye); 10 great-grandchildren; her niece, Christine (Shedden) Galloway (Richard) of Plant City, Florida, as well as countless friends who loved her and will miss her.  Nancy's sister, VIrginia (Nordin) Shedden, brother-in-law Robert Shedden, and niece Marta (Shedden) Smith preceded her in death.  Nancy was also the mother-in-law of Kelly Rohrich.

Burial will be private for the immediate family.  Memorial contributions in her honor to Southminster Presbyterian Church or Pennsylvania Hospice and Palliative Care Network are greatly appreciated.
