Mercedes T. Scumaci, known better by her nickname "Nina," tragically passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, just after midnight. In her roles as a daughter, sister and aunt she deeply touched the lives of those around her. Anybody who had the privilege of knowing her will speak to her loving nature, warm personality and gentle demeanor. As a retired florist she had a keen eye for detail and was known to be a perfectionist. This was manifest in both her professional and personal life. As a Pittsburgh native, she loved watching Pittsburgh sports teams, particularly the Steelers. As a faithful Catholic, she demonstrated her faith in both word and deed every single day, until the very end. She was one of the very few bright lights in a world that grows increasingly dim. Even though she passed away, she will live on in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Nina was the daughter of the late Francis "Lefty" and Gloria Scumaci; sister of Ross L. (Kim) Scumaci, Anita F. Scumaci and Fran A. Sielski (Pete); dearest aunt of Corrin D. Neskow (Jon), Jude R. Scumaci, Camille F. Scumaci and Francis E. Sielski; great-aunt of Shay Neskow.
Visitation and Mass are private at the request of the family.
