Margaret Deiseroth Obituary

Margaret Mary (Dittley) Deiseroth

Age 95, of South Side, Carrick and Mt. Lebanon passed peacefully on Monday April 4, 2022. Peg was born in 1926 to Leopold and Margaret Dittley in the South Side of Pittsburgh where she grew up with her three sisters and two brothers. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul H. Deiseroth who preceded her in 2007 and loving mother of the late Paul H. Deiseroth, Jr. (Therese), Lee K. Deiseroth (Elizabeth),  Daniel S. Deiseroth (Dianne). Devoted grandmother to Paul (Amie), the late Matthew, (Jennifer), Maggie Woodward (Andrew), Peter, Sarah and Danielle; great-grandmother to Alayna, Emily, Henry, and Charlie, Morgan, Madison, Megan  and Dillon; great-great grandmother to Rebel and Emit.

Peg married her husband Paul in the late stages of World War II in Baltimore where he was stationed as a mechanic. They returned to Pittsburgh where she worked as a buyer for a clothing store in the City neighborhood of Arlington.

After raising her family and acting as the secretary for her husband’s trucking company, Peg adventured into a new career. She was a lover of the art of food and founded the Fluted Mushroom catering company along with her daughter in law Therese and actively participated in the operation well into her 70’s before retiring to travel to all her favorite places. She was a passionate reader and lover of the arts and music.

Peg’s presence at any event was memorable for her keen intelligence and ability to tell one of her many stories about any subject, which will live on with her passing.  Peg lived a life of helping everyone in any way she could.  In her last words spoken, she held her conviction that she “did her best” at life, and we all agree and will deeply miss her.

Immediate family and friends will be received on Thursday, 4-8 p.m., at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 1065 Brookline Blvd., where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m.  Interment is private.

Memorial contributions may be made in Peg’s name to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, 1 N. Linden Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15110.
