KAREN H. MICHAEL

Of Pittsburgh, passed away at Whitehall Springs Memory Care Community at the age of 79, on September 23, 2021, after a long battle with dementia.  Karen was born on December 28, 1941, in Whitaker, Pennsylvania.  She was the daughter of the late Paul and Merle Horgan, the wife of Anthony (deceased) and former wife of Will (deceased).  She was an adored sister to Donald (deceased), David (Carol) and Eileen (Jack).  Karen is survived by her three children, Gregg (Brett), Dana (Tom) O'Connor and Richard (Stacie).  Karen was an adored grandmother to Colleen, Katie, Maura and Tommy O'Connor, and Chloe and Noah Michael.  Karen loved and cared for both her immediate and extended families to such a degree that to many extended family she was simply known as A.K. (you know who you are and she loved the appellation).  To her immediate family, she was simply known as wife, as Mom, and, as the way these things work, the center of many lives.  Karen was most passionate about her family, her children and grandchildren, and as true a person as many would ever meet.  Karen was blessed with the simple and noble gift of giving love, expecting no return, and those that knew her reveled in receiving that most precious gift.  Karen goes to her God and Maker a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and good friend.  We were blessed to have Karen, to know her, and now to celebrate her life well-lived and well-loved.  We rest assured the Lord will care for her loving soul.

Family and friends will be received Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, where a service will be held on Tuesday, at 10 a.m.
