Grace Schmitt Obituary

Grace passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in the late evening of March 31, 2025.

Grace was born and raised in the South Side of Pittsburgh. She was a true original South Sider but resided in Mt. Lebanon.

Grace loved going to bingo, giving too many Christmas presents, sending wonderful long text messages, making delicious homemade meals with lots of leftovers, and giving many holiday and birthday cards.   Grace loved everybody, she showered them with positive energy and constantly expressed her kindness and generosity, especially to her grandchildren.  To know Grace was to love Grace.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, James Schmitt; her parents, Henry and Margaret (Donnelly) Keil; her brothers, Raymond and Dale Keil; and her sister, Nancy Gaertner.

Grace is survived and missed by her sisters, Lois Kniss, Gerry Peters, Linda (Robert) Prihillia and Faith Chisman; her children, Bryan Shuttleworth, Elaine Grace (John) Tagg and Lynn (Brian) Pechin; her grandchildren, Caitlin Pechin (Brendan) Butler, Abigail Pechin, Erik Tagg and Maura Grace Pechin; her great-granddaughter, Nora Butler; her close nephew, Joseph Fedorek (Lauren Bucci), her close great-nieces, Olivia Fedorek, Aleana Fedorek; and many other loved nieces and nephews.
