Frank Nicholas Palamone, age 88, of Green Tree, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 14th. Frank leaves behind his beloved bride, Bertha (Bert). Frank and Bert were married for 55 years. In addition to his loving and dedicated wife, Frank was the father to Carla (Joy) of Maryland and Mark (Jaime) of New York. He was the beloved grandfather of Ava, Adelyn, and Luke.
In addition to Frank’s immediate family, Frank was brother to Mary Grace Petros and Barbara Cardinale, brother-in-law to Wanda Stano, and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in 1936, Frank was a lifelong resident of the South Hills in Pittsburgh. Frank graduated from St. Bernard Grade School and Mount Lebanon High School. Frank had fond memories of the Mt. Lebo’ Class of 1954. Frank worked in management and operations for both 3M and Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh.
Frank’s faith was deep and purposeful throughout his life. He was an active contributor and volunteer at the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish) in Brookline, serving as eucharistic minister and assisting in multiple ministries of the Parish. Frank was a past member of the Pittsburgh Chapter barbershop quartet, the Sweet Adelines. Frank’s love of music was evident with his familiar whistling to many songs. In his later years, Frank also contributed to the music ministry as a member of St. Bernard’s choir in Mount Lebanon, PA.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman with memberships in several local Sportsmen clubs, membership in the S.A.S.S., and a lifelong member of the N.R.A. Frank also enjoyed his affiliation with the Washington Pipe Collectors Club.
Family and friends will be received at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Blvd, 412-561-0380, on Monday, April 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish). Private Interment will immediately follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery 1715 Middletown Rd., McKees Rocks, PA. Friends are invited to a repast luncheon at Cucina Vitale, 661 Andersen Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 (Foster Plaza), at 12:30 p.m.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the extraordinary care and compassion of the physicians and health care professionals at St. Clair Health, St. Clair Hospital, and Gallagher Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation (amyloidosis.org) for the advancement of cardiac amyloidosis research, the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org), or St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish (stteresakolkatapgh.org).
