CURTIS LESTER REA, age 85, of Brookline, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Curtis was born on July 26, 1939 to George L. and Mildred R. Rea. His siblings include David (Sandi) and the late Clayton (Margie), Charles “Chuck” (Linda), Keith, and Kenneth (Patricia) Rea.
As a 1957 graduate of South Hills High School, Curtis met his future wife, Margaret Jo Nellis, at their school Prom. They were married January 31, 1959. Curtis is survived by his children, Steven C. (Iva), Andrew B., Virginia R. (Bernd) Zoller and Gregory S. (Traci), and his grandchildren, Nicholas Rea, Molly (Jack) Turner, Madeline Rea, Vivian Rea, Karl Zoller and Sarah (Jason) Meyers.
Beyond attention to his family, Curtis was active in his high school alumni association, a proud member of Teamsters #211, and enjoyed volunteering for years with the Brookline Baseball Association. His hobbies included playing cards, bowling, Bingo and rooting for all Pittsburgh sports teams.
Family and friends will be received at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Blvd., 412-561-0380, on Tuesday, April 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16, at 10 a.m., in the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish).
