CARL J. KOVACIC

Of Brookline, born on August 13, 1920, and called home on Saturday, July 5, 2020.  Husband of the late Teresa M. (Yannucci); son of  the late Carl J. Kovacic and Sophie Bucinell Kovacic; brother of Leon, Paul, Donald Kovacic, Josephine Lensler, and the late Joseph, Evan, Francis, David, Cyril Kovacic, Mary Brownell and Irene Bacon; dear uncle of many beloved nieces and nephews. 

Carl was the longtime Superintendent of Maintenance at the De Paul Institute.  There he was not only a valued and loyal employee, but often mentored students with hearing impairments, a challenge he shared with them.

Carl enjoyed traveling with his wife Teresa to conventions or to visit family.  The place he loved to visit the most was his family farm, the Kovacic Family Farm, in Union Dale, PA.  His family purchased the farm in 1931.  Carl‘s parents and siblings have always been indebted to him for his hard work and dedication that helped successfully create the family homestead.  A 100th birthday celebration was planned for Carl‘s birthday at the farm later this summer.  His spirit and handprints will live on forever there.

Carl was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf, the International Catholic Deaf Association and an active member of St. Justin‘s Parish on Mount Washington until its closing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish), 1100 Creedmore Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 10 a.m.
