Athena Terzis Obituary

In Loving Memory

Athena Terzis (Samaras), born on January 24, 1924, to John and Stavroula Samaras, peacefully passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 101. Athena was a woman of great love, strength, and grace, and her family and friends will forever cherish her vibrant spirit and unwavering warmth.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 70 years, Nicholas, brother Paul Samaras, sister Diamond Koistinen as well as her beloved children Christ, Joan, and Kathryn (McCune). Athena leaves behind her devoted daughter, Nikki (Rosato), with whom she shared a special and enduring bond. They enjoyed spending time together, especially at the casino, creating many cherished memories along the way. In her final days, Nikki lovingly cared for her mother, offering unwavering support and comfort, just as she had done throughout their lives.

Athena is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Terzis, and son-in-law, Jim McCune, as well as her nephews, Steven and George (Joanne) Kiragis and niece Sophia (Dana) Bartholomew. She leaves behind many great nieces and nephews, who were a joy in her life.

She was the beloved Lala/Yia-Yia to her grandchildren, Nikki (David) MacIsaac, Renee (Timothy) Blauch, Danielle (Kevin) O'Donnell, Annie Terzis, John (Johanna) Rosato, Teri (Michael) Norquist, Christ Terzis, Paul Terzis, and Eleni McCune. Nothing brought her more joy than her great-grandchildren. As a proud Gigi, Athena was adored by Kevin, Sean, Sophia, and Alessandra O’Donnell; Trevor and Dawson Blauch; Hunter Treece, Athena, Marianicola, and Josephine Rosato; Vivian and Juliana MacIsaac: Michela, Gabe, Eli and Clare Norquist; all of whom brought her immense joy.

Athena had a real zest for life, always finding joy in the simplest moments, and her infectious energy will be missed by all who knew her. Known for her radiant smile, wonderful sense of humor, Athena was never afraid to be silly and always knew how to make others laugh. Her lightheartedness, quick wit, and joyful nature will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Athena was the eldest member of her beloved church, Holy Cross, where she was a dedicated member for many years. Her faith was unwavering, and her spirit inspired all who knew her.

Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. She was a remarkable matriarch, and her presence in their lives will never be forgotten.
