Of Bethel Park, formerly of Brookline, on Monday, May 6, 2024. Husband of the late Elsie C. (Capelli). Beloved father of David A. (Shelly) and the late James A. Hess. Brother of the late Lorraine Bernhard. Also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

DeBor Funeral Home, 1065 Brookline Blvd., 412-561-0380, on Thursday, May 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 10 a.m., in the Church of the Resurrection (St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish). Al was a member of the greatest generation, proudly serving in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in England.
