Of Castle Shannon, on Monday, March 12, 2018.  Beloved husband of Mary; father of Susan Batko, Bobbi (Paul) Christopher, Diane (Stan) Filipiak and Janet (David) Cumberledge; grandfather of Nicholas and Alex Batko, Michael and Daniel Filipiak, and Jamie (Jason) and David (Alexis) Cumberledge; also four great-grandchildren.

In stages from the headstrong young man who cut class to play music, the stern father who worked three jobs and still made time for his family, the adoring husband who cared for his wife of 68 years, and the father and grandfather who always had time to devote to all of us, Bob Kress spent every minute of his life making everyone around him smile and laugh.  Whether using his warm and unerring sense of humor, his ability to talk you through anything, or simply making the music flow all around him, he had the gift to make anyone feel special.  He will be remembered for his moments at the bass, with best friend Cy Hays; for playing the piano in his family home that was the constant hub for loved ones and friends; and for his love of baseball.

Family and friends will be received at the Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Resurrection (Brookline).

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
