GARY WALTER KETTER, 60, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 6th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman who loved nature. He enjoyed fishing, landscaping and watching/training the wildlife that wandered through his yard. His family was the most important thing to him.
Gary grew up and lived on the South Side with his parents, Walter and Rita (Stiefvater) Ketter, siblings, Francis (Dorene) Ketter, Kenneth (the late Melissa) Ketter and Mary Ketter. Gary married the love of his life and strongest supporter, Janet (Coleman) Ketter, in August of 1993. Janet recalls being with Gary 10 years prior to their wedding. She will miss her best friend and life-long companion of 41 years. They loved going up to Sugar Lake, his favorite spot. Gary did not want a funeral, but instead wanted everyone to go on a fishing trip, drink a beer and "remember me!"
In addition to his wife Janet, Gary is survived by his son, Samuel (Maria) Ketter and daughter Kiersten (Austin) Oliver-Ketter. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Kali (8) and python, Monty (18). Gary will also be dearly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Any donations made in honor of Gary should be made to your preferred wildlife organization.
